ICA Preschool

At Ironbridge Christian Academy, our preschool program is designed to help our youngest learners understand the foundational truths that God created them, loves them deeply, and has a special purpose for their lives. Every aspect of our curriculum is rooted in a Biblical Worldview, taught by dedicated teachers who live out their faith daily.

Each day, we introduce students to the love of God through engaging Bible lessons, scripture memory, and service opportunities tailored to their age, nurturing both their spiritual and academic development.

OUR PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

At ICA, we believe a love for the Lord and a passion for learning start at an early age. Our preschool staff is focused on each child's individual growth. They will know your child personally, nurture their strengths and weaknesses, and encourage them as they grow academicaly, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

We offer a structured, yet flexible, curriculum for children ages 2-4 that promotes early learning in a faith-filled atmosphere. Our classes are designed to foster curiosity, creativity, and a sense of wonder, while also helping children develop essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills.

ACADEMIC LIFE

Faith-Centered Learning: We incorporate Christian values and biblical teachings throughout our day. Bible stories, songs, and prayers are integrated into the classroom experience, helping children grow in their relationship with God from an early age.

Hands-On Learning: Our play-based approach encourages children to explore, create, and problem-solve. We use hands-on activities, such as art, music, sensory play, and outdoor exploration, to spark imagination and foster critical thinking.

Early Literacy & Math Skills: We provide a strong foundation in early literacy and math through engaging activities and age-appropriate lessons. Children are introduced to letters, numbers, shapes, and colors in a fun and interactive way.

Social & Emotional Development: Through group activities, cooperative play, and guided interactions, children learn important social skills, such as sharing, taking turns, and resolving conflicts. Our teachers guide students in building self-esteem, empathy, and respect for others.

Individualized Attention: With small class sizes, each child receives personalized attention to ensure they are growing and thriving at their own pace. We understand that every child learns differently, and we tailor our approach to meet the needs of each student.

Preschool FAQ's

Many parents and teachers prioritize cognitive and educational skills, such as counting, recognizing letters, and making letter sounds, before kindergarten. While these skills are introduced in Ironbridge Christian Academy’s preschool program, the primary focus is on developing social and independence skills essential for kindergarten readiness.

Preschool provides children with opportunities to interact with peers and adults, fostering self-control, patience, and problem-solving abilities that build perseverance. Additionally, exposure to books and media enhances language comprehension and helps children express their ideas effectively. This foundation allows teachers to further nurture each child’s unique abilities as they progress.

Teachers participate in regular in-service training, earning at least 10 Continuing Education Credits to stay updated on teaching methods. They also meet bi-monthly to plan activities and collaborate on classroom goals. Lesson plans are reviewed weekly by the director to ensure high-quality instruction. To keep parents informed, teachers create weekly newsletters so that parents are informed. Parents can easily reach teachers via phone, notes, or email.

ICA Preschool schedules two Parent/Teacher conferences annually, providing insights into each child's progress. At the end of the year, teachers also send a summary letter to help parents understand their child’s development. If any concerns arise, teachers promptly reach out to parents to schedule a conference.

The 2's program follows a biblically sound curriculum specifically developed for twos: Bible Quest, Toddlers and Twos.

The other preschool teachers follow a guideline of very specific skills that are age-appropriate called Core Knowledge Skills (more information about the CK Preschool Sequence Skills available on their website: CoreKnowledge.org.) The CK skills cover a variety of skills: motor skills, movement and coordination; social skills, autonomy and independence; work habits; language, oral language, literacy and writing; and cognitive skills, mathematical reasoning, orientation in space and time, scientific reasoning, musical recognition.

Within the Core Knowledge framework the three-year olds use a theme-based monthly plan of topics ranging from “My Family” to “Our Community Helpers” while also incorporating a Gospel Light Bible curriculum. The four-year old classrooms follow a letter of the week approach where stories, art activities and bible characters deal with the featured letter. Each month, the Core Knowledge Skills and Monthly Outline are posted and shared so that families are involved in all aspects of their child’s education.
